Discover New Forest Fishing - Coarse Fishing For the Angler in the New Forest - What Will You Catch?

If you want to try New Forest fishing you will be hoping to land your catch in this wonderful UK National Park. Surrounded by the beautiful New Forest ponies, cows, donkeys and sometimes even a pig the area I can recommend is a Forestry Commission site and is also a great picnic area too for the rest of the family.

You may find your angling skills have caught you Roach, Bream, Tench, Carp, Pike, Pearch, Eels or Rudd they could all be part of your catch - if you're lucky.

Hatchet Pond is close to the stunning New Forest village of Beaulieu but is also easily accessible from the nearby Roundhill Campsite.

Here's what you will need to try coarse fishing at Hatchet Pond and Little Hatchet.
The season runs from 16th June to 14th March.

There is a code of conduct which is essential as you will be fishing in an area within a UK National Park where both owned animals and wildlife is prolific. Here are the details:

Barbless hooks and no surface floating baits
Anglers may fish half an hour before sunrise and half an hour after sunset
Only dead marine fish bait for pike fishing
Use a landing net and unhooking mat when when handling caught fish
No keep nets or lead weights
Boilies may be used in moderation
Fish live in water - please put them back immediately
Retrieve all broken casts to prevent injury to wildlife
No litter please including bait and line litter
No radio controlled boats

Although this sounds like a lot of rules I'm sure as a conscientious angler you can see both the sense and reason for the rules, especially as you may be casting out your line with a little donkey standing just behind you.

If you are an angler who wants to explore and experience either a day out discovering New Forest fishing or if you want to make it a part of your stay withing the beautiful New Forest National Park, it's all here for you to discover.

I live in the beautiful New Forest - a UK National Park. New forest ponies, donkeys, cows and even pigs run about freely outside my door.

I love living in this unique place and want to share my love with others through my New Forest tales and experiences. All the photos on my site are my own - warts and all. They may not win any prizes but if you see one you know it is real!

Now I can allow others to take part in my website by adding their own experiences too. If you have a great story to tell about the New Forest, you can simply add it to my site. The areas covered so far are: best walks, great fishing, great food and war time memories. I'll be adding to them all the time - so if you want to contribute just visit My New Forest Life travel Guide.

I look forward to welcoming you to the beautiful New Forest, England.
